You Don’t Need a Logo, Brochure or Website. You Need a Solution.

Businesses often come to INKO asking for a specific thing: a new website, logo, brochure, a better way to present information, or maybe something else entirely that needs to be designed. And sometimes that is exactly what they need. Other times, it has been our experience that the thing being requested… isn’t even the right solution.

Good design has always been about solving problems, whether the result is a logo, website, printed material or a comprehensive brand identity package. Visual design helps people understand, while information systems design and user experience help people find what they need to accomplish without unnecessary frustration. Sure, technology can automate, organize and connect, but strategy determines which of those tools should be employed (and when) in the first place.

Increasingly, this is the middle ground where we find the work we do at INKO. That does not mean every business needs a custom system or complicated technology. Quite the opposite. Our goal is to find the most practical solution that actually addresses the unique problem.

For some clients that solution is surprisingly simple. For others, there is no ready-packaged answer that accurately fits how the business operates. In those situations, creative solutions may mean a website becomes more than a website. It transforms into an employee resource, an organized information hub, a specialized customer tool, or even a system designed around a particular business process. Here, a simple website evolves into part of the solution.

That distinction matters even more now. We have more tools than ever for creating things quickly. Websites can be generated, copy can be written, images can be created and software can automate tasks that once required hours of work. Those tools can be incredibly useful, but having more ways to build something does not necessarily tell you what should be built. Someone still has to understand the business, ask why the problem exists, determine who it affects, define the desirable outcome and then imagineer the most effective solution. Someone has to take all those pieces and turn them into a viable tool that people can actually use.

Yes, INKO still creates brands, websites, graphic design and marketing materials. Those remain important and beloved parts of what we do. But increasingly, our work begins before the deliverables have even been defined. You may know something is not working in your business. You may even think you know what you need to fix it. But the bigger question INKO is here to help you with is, What problem are you really trying to solve? From there, we can figure out what needs to be designed, crafted or imagineered, and build it.
